Hi! My name is Emilio Romero and I’m a current Master’s student in the Hamdoun Lab. My project focuses on understanding the expression and regulation of genes that are unique to the germ cell lineage in the painted sea urchin, Lytechinus pictus. The regulatory elements that allow these proteins to be selectively maintained in the germline will be used to produce germ cells expressing Cas9 proteins that will enable robust, reproducible, and diverse genome-engineering applications for sea urchins.

I am from Ensenada, MX and I am interested in gene regulatory networks and CRISPR/Cas9-mediated gene drive technologies.
